Partial loads - pallet transport

Not every shipment fills the entire space of a truck or other means of transport. In such cases, we recommend partial-load transport - your cargo travels together with other customers' shipments, while maintaining the same speed and safety, and you save significantly. Partial loads can be ordered via the “Send parcel” platform both for domestic transport within Lithuania and for shipping to/from abroad. What are partial loads?

Simply put, a partial load is a shipment that does not take up the entire space of the vehicle transporting it. Typically, multiple customers' pallet shipments are transported at the same time in a truck or other vehicle.

A large part of partial loads is transported on pallets and may be referred to as palletized freight. Transport on a pallet is required if the shipment weight exceeds a certain limit - 70 kg.

Why is it worth using partial-load transport? Think about it - if your cargo takes up one or two pallets, ordering an entire truck just for this cargo would be irrational, because transport costs would increase significantly, right? In such cases, several customers' smaller shipments are consolidated, the space is filled, and the transport cost is shared between customers proportionally to the shipment volume.
Another advantage of partial loads is the ability to deliver goods, materials, tools, or other items exactly when needed - and only as much as needed at that moment and as much as you have storage space for. This reduces the need for additional warehousing - you do not have to maintain a large space for big stockpiles.

If the shipment weight exceeds 70 kg (and for shipments over 30 kg, using a pallet is recommended), it must be transported on a pallet, and when entering shipment data, select “pallet” as the packaging type.
You are responsible for the pallet and packing the shipment. Key points to know:

• The shipment box or multiple boxes are placed on a pallet, wrapped with transparent packing film, and secured with straps.
• It is very important that the pallet size matches your shipment size - the pallet must not be too small or too large. It is especially important that the boxes on the pallet do not extend beyond the pallet edges. The same applies to one large box on a pallet.
• Boxes should be arranged so that the top surface is even, because loads are stacked on top of each other when loading into the vehicle. This means you must ensure the shipment is strong enough to withstand pressure and compression from other shipments.
• Non-standard pallet cargo requires special attention - for example, tires, engines, car parts, furniture, etc. In such cases, the cargo is placed on a pallet and secured with special straps, then wrapped with film. If you believe additional protection is needed, use special boards for stability and protection.

How long does pallet transport (partial loads) take?

The duration of pallet transport largely depends on the selected service. The range of delivery times is wide.

• If you want the fastest possible delivery, choose the Express service - the cargo will reach major EU cities in approximately 1-2 business days. If speed is not a priority and you want a lower price, choose Economy - then the cargo typically travels about 3-6 business days.
• Delivery times differ for countries outside the EU. With Express, the cargo travels about 3-4 business days, while with Economy it takes about 5-7 business days.

How much do partial loads and pallet freight cost?

It is natural that price is one of the most important criteria when choosing transport services. There are many offers on the market, so the price range is wide.
